National Cadet Corps & National Service Schem


The College NCC unit has many sucess stories. It has been regarded as the backbone of 37th Jharkhand Battalion of the N.C.C. Its cadets have proved their credentials by being selected in the Country's armed forces. Time and again they have been selected as best cadets in different national level camps.The unit is proved that a substantial number of its cadets have been selected to represent Jharkhand in Republic Day Parade at New Delhi. Lt. (Dr.) Fakhruddin Ahmad is nourishing the unit with great motivational force. Enrollment of girls cadets was started in 2009 and within a year the success was outstanding.

2012

Ncc Unit of College Organised a 2 days Workshop on "JOINING INDIAN ARMY". 60 Boys and girls Cadets of Different Colleges and NCC Officers attended this Workshop Col. A.S.NARAYAN and Capt. Dhananjay Mishra addressed the gathering.

During Workshop a Blood Donation Camp was Organised by the NCC Unit. 42 Unit of Blood was Donated.


National Service Scheme (NSS) is a noble experiment in academic expansion. It inculcates the sprit of voluntary work among students and teachers through sustained community interaction. The main objective of NSS is personality development through community service, acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude, develop a sense of social & civil responsibility and to extend the National Integration & Social Harmony.

The NSS unit of our College is actively engaged in community and social services in and around the campus, through its regular community development activities on weekends & special camping in adopted villages / areas.

Activities of National Service Scheme (NSS), 2012-13

 

National Service Scheme inculcates the spirit of voluntary social work among the students through community services. It brings academic institution closer to the society. Under the guidance of NSS Unit of Kolhan University, Chaibasa the NSS unit of our College is striving hard to inculcate a sense of social responsibility among the student volunteers, through various regular activities and Special Camping Program in adopted village.

  • Communal Harmony Week – 2011: NSS Unit organized different activities from 18th Nov to 25th Nov 2011, during the week long program, with the aim of promoting communal harmony and national integration among the youth and the masses. D.C East Singhbhum, Mrs. Himani Pandey, inaugurated the programme and flagged off the Communal Harmony Rally. A  Slogan competition, Speech Competition, Patriotic Song competition organized during the week. Mr. Aziz Hussain, President, College G.B. distributed the certificates and prizes in the closing ceremony.
  • NSS Volunteers visited Shishu Bhawan: an orphanage, run by the Missionaries of Charity at Baradwari, Jamshedpur on 14th Feb. 2012. The main objective of the visit was to spread the message of love and care among the children living in the orphanage. The NSS volunteers distributed gifts and spent some quality time  with the children of the orphanage.
  • The NSS unit of the college organized a visit of the Cheshire Home at Karandih, Jamshedpur on 3rd May 2012. The Cheshire Home is a residence of severely disabled females in the age group of 12 to 55 yrs. The volunteers distributed fruits and other necessary objects among them. The visit sensitized the volunteers with a firsthand experience of understanding and empathizing the pain and suffering of the mentally and physically disabled persons.
  • NSS unit of College organized an Orientation and Enrollment program in the campus on 27thJuly 2012. The main objective of organizing the program was to orient the fresh newcomer students about the aim and objectives and activities of the NSS.
  • Ribbon Red Express; the joint effort of Ministry of Health and Railways reached the Tatanagar Railway Station on 19th Sept 2012. The Red Ribbon Express is committed to spread the awareness of HIV/AIDS among the masses in general and the youths and students in particular. NSS volunteers of the college visited the Red Ribbon Express and rendered their services during the inaugural ceremony and the exhibition.
  • 1st Oct 2012 is observed as World Blood Donation Day, Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp. Volunteers of NSS Unit of College in collaboration with Red Cross Society participated enthusiastically in the camp. The NSS volunteers of the college organized a rally on the occasion to spread the awareness regarding the blood donation in the common masses. The volunteers donated 14 unit of blood during the camp.
  • NSS volunteers participated in the Youth Festival organized by the Sarvmilan; a youth organization at Loyola School on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd Oct 2012.
  • NSS volunteers participated in the Road Safety Rally organized by the SAFE  in collaboration with Corporate Safety, Tata Steel at Gopal Maidan on 21st Nov 2012.
  • NSS unit of the college organized an ‘Inter Faith Dialogue on Communal Harmony’ on 24th Nov 2012, during the opening ceremony of Communal Harmony Week-2012, observed from 21 – 27 Nov 2012. Four clerics spoke in the Inter Faith Dialogue. Mr. Subodh Kumar SDM Dhalbhum was the chief guest on the occasion. A rally is also organized and flagged off by the distinguished guests. Various competitions are also organized to mark the occasion. Mr.Akhilesh Jha SSP Jamshedpur, the chief guest of the closing ceremony distributed certificates and prizes.
  • NSS Unit of the College organized a Special Camp in its adopted village Sarjomhatu near Domuhani, Sonari from 20 – 25 Dec 2012. 50 volunteers rendered their services during the camp, focusing on the different issues of the villagers especially health and hygiene, education, sanitation, saving for the future etc. The village is predominated by the tribals.
  • College NSS Program Officer, Dr. Aquil Ahmad participated in a 7 days Training Program on ‘Social Harmony, National Unity and Human Right’ organized by the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur at Jadavpur University, Kolkata from 27th Dec 2012 to 2nd Jan 2013.

  • North-East Adventure Camp, Nagaland : NSS volunteer Anamika Kumari(MCVP part I) participated in North East Adventure Programme at Kiasma Nagaland organized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports ,Govt. of India from 15th to 23rd January 2013.
  • Inter-State Youth Exchange Program, Mysore : Sadaf Zabeen (BCA part I) NSS volunteer of our unit participated in Inter-state Youth Exchange Programme at Mysore organized by RGNIYD, in collaboration with NSS Regional Centre, Bangalore from 20 Feb to 1 Mar 2013 at Mysore University ,Mysore.
  • Mega Camp-Ranchi : Atul Boipai (B.Com part III), volunteer of our NSS unit participated in NSS Mega Camp-2013 at CUJ, Ranchi, organized by NSS Regional Centre, Patna  from 4th to 15th March 2013
  • World Environment Day :  On 5th June 2013, a rally been organized by the NSS unit of the college to mark the occasion. Volunteers with their slogans and posters given the citizens of the city the message of clean and green environment.
  • Mega Camp-Bangalore : Our volunteers Roshan Agarwal (B.Com part II) & Nawsheen Anjum (B.Sc. IT part  I) participated in NSS Mega Camp-2013 organized by NSS Regional Centre, Bangalore, at Bangalore University from 29th June to 10th July-2013.
  • TOT, Ranchi : Neha Kumari (MCVP-I) and Gurmeet Kaur (B.Sc.IT-I) participated and represented the Kolhan University in the 10 days Kishore Kishori Yogana, a training program for NSS and NYKS volunteers, organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. of Jharkhand, held at Ranchi from 30th July to 8th August 2013.
  • 15th August 2013 : NSS volunteers of the College unit celebrated the Independence Day with the students of Project School at Sarjomhatu village near Domuhani, Sonari, and organized different activities on the occasion to inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the underprivileged students of the adopted village.
  • Induction and Orientation Program : NSS unit of College organized an Induction and  Orientation  program in the campus on 22nd August 2013. The main objective of organizing the program was to orient the fresh newcomer students about the aim and objectives and activities of the NSS. Around 100 students participated in the program and became the member of NSS.
  • NSS Day Celebration : NSS unit of the College celebrated the NSS Day on 24th September 2013. University Coordinator of NSS, Dr. Sunit Kumar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A documentary film on the objectives of NSS was screened to motivate the students for joining the NSS. Volunteership certificate was also distributed among the outgoing students.
  • World Blood Donation Day : On 1st Oct 2013, Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp. Volunteers of NSS Unit of College participated enthusiastically for this noble cause in the camp. The NSS volunteers of the college also organized a Blood Donation Rally on the occasion to spread the awareness regarding the blood donation in the common masses. The volunteers donated 36 unit of blood during the camp.
  • Communal Harmony Week : The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of our college observes the week (19th-25th November) every year to sensitize the common masses in general and the students and youth in particular the importance of communal harmony and national integration. To mark the occasion this year we have organized a Communal Harmony Rally flagged off by Mr. Ashish Mathur, MD,JUSCO, to spread the message of communal harmony and national integration, apart from different competitions and  Fund Raising Drive by the NSS Volunteers during the whole week. This year our volunteers generated a fund of  around Rs.18000/- and send to National Foundation for Communal Harmony(NFCH) New Delhi, for their rehabilitation work for the victims of communal, ethnic and terrorist violence.
  • World Human Rights Day : NSS unit of the college observed the World Human Rights Day on 10th December 2013. Dr. M.A.Makki, HOD of Political Science and Human Rights activist delivered a lecture on human rights and oriented the student with the human rights violations by different agencies. A documentary film on Universal Declaration of Human Rights was also screened on the occasion, and later a copy of  Articles of UDHR was also distributed among the students.
  • Special Camping Program : Six days annual Special Camping Program was organized by the College NSS unit in its adopted village Kopali, from 21st-26th December 2013. The adopted village is one km. away from the Mango Campus of the College. 50 volunteers rendered their services during the camp, focusing on the different issues of the villagers especially health and hygiene, education and literacy, sanitation, saving for the future etc. The camp provided the opportunity of community services and a close interaction with the rural household among the students

  • Rajiv Gandhi Adventure Camp, Narkanda (H.P.): NSS volunteer Aman Kumar Singh, B.Sc IT (2), participated in Rajiv Gandhi Adventure Camp,at Narkanda (Himachal Pradesh) from 6th-15th January 2014 organized by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali.
  • Blood Donation Camp: To pay homage to the founder of the Karim’s Trust, Late S.T.Karim, a blood donation camp is organized in the College campus on 9th January 2014. The camp is jointly organized by the NSS Unit, NCC Unit and the Rotaract Club of the College. Students, volunteers, cadets and faculty members donated blood on the occasion. 100 unit of blood collected on the occasion.
  • National Youth Festival, Ludhiana: Our NSS volunteers Abhishek Choudhary, B.Sc. IT(2) & Smita Sahu ,B.A. (2) represented the Kolhan University in the 18th National Youth Festival organized by Department of Youth Service, Chandigarh, Punjab, at Ludhiana from 12th-16th January 2014.
  • National Voter’s Day: On the occasion of National Voter’s Day on 25th January 2014, an orientation and awareness program is organized in the campus. To spread the awareness and motivation of youth to participate in the democratic exercise of voting, two documentary films were screened on the occasion. Students and volunteers also taken the oath and pledged to take part in voting for the strengthening of our democratic values.

  • NSS National Adventure Camp, Manali (H.P.) : NSS Volunteer of our College Sharmila Chatterjee, B.A.(I) participated in the National Adventure Camp at Manali (Himachal Pradesh) from 4th to 13th September 2014, jointly organized by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali and Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. of India. In this camp she learned various skills like; trekking, rock climbing, river crossing etc. and other adventure activities.
  • International Literacy Day : NSS unit of the College celebrated the International Literacy Day in the E-Class Room of the College on 8th September 2014. Motivational documentaries were screened and volunteers shared their views on the importance of literacy. Volunteers also pledged to render their services to promote the rate of literacy in the society, especially in and around its adopted village at Kopali.
  • NSS Mega Camp, Ladnun (Rajasthan) : Gourav Saraf, B.Sc IT-(II) Volunteer of our NSS unit participated and represented the Kolhan University in the NSS Mega Camp-2014 held at Jain Vishwa Bharati University, Ladnun (Rajasthan) from 5th to 15th September 2014, jointly organized by Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. of India and NSS Regional Centre, Jaipur. 400 volunteers from 27 states and 3 UTs participated in this camp.
  • NSS Day Celebration: NSS unit of the College celebrated the NSS Day on 24th September 2014 in the College campus. Senior faculty members graced the occasion; they also motivated and appreciated the work done by the NSS unit of the College. A documentary film on the objectives of NSS was screened to motivate the students for joining the NSS. Volunteers represented the College in different national level camps also shared their experiences during the program.
  • Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp-2014: Four volunteers of our College NSS unit Aman Kumar Singh, B.Sc.IT (III), Anamika Kumari, B.A.Mass.Com (III), Manisha Kumari, B.A. (III) and Rinku Kumar, B.Sc.IT (II) participated in the Pre-RD Parade Camp, Agra from 3rd to 12th October 2014, jointly organized by NSS Regional Centre, Lucknow (U.P.) and ETI, NSS St. John’s College, B.R.Ambedkar University, Agra U.P.   
  • World Blood Donation Day: On 11th Oct 2014, Red Cross Society, Jamshedpur organized a Mega Blood Donation Camp. Volunteers of NSS Unit of College participated enthusiastically for this noble cause in the camp. The NSS volunteers of the college also organized a Blood Donation Rally on the occasion to spread the awareness regarding the blood donation in the common masses. Our volunteers donated 26 unit of blood during the camp.
  • Swachta Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive): On the initiative of Prime Minister of India, regarding Swach Bharat Abhiyan launched nationwide on 2nd October 2014, the birth anniversary of Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, our College NSS unit organized Cleanliness Drive in its adopted village Kopali on 13th November 2014. Volunteers, along with the local youth initiated the drive in and around the village and motivated the villagers to keep their surroundings clean and hygienic for the betterment of their future.
  • Voting Awareness Rally & Human Chain: On the directives of State Election Commission and District Administration, to enhance the voting percentage and participation of urban voters in the forthcoming Jharkhand Assembly Election; the NSS unit of our College made a Human Chain followed by a Voters Awareness Rally on 17th November 2014. Volunteers spread the message through slogans and banners. 
  • Communal Harmony Week - 2014: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of our college observes the Communal Harmony Week (19th-25th November) every year to sensitize the common masses in general and the students and youth in particular the importance of communal harmony and national integration. To mark the occasion this year we have organized Slogan Writing Competition, Speech Competition and Patriotic Song Competition along with Inaugural and Prize distribution ceremony. Apart from different competitions a Fund Raising Drive is also carried by the NSS Volunteers during the whole week. This year our volunteers generated a fund of Rs.24125/-(Twenty Four Thousand One Hundred Twenty Five Rupees) and send to National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) New Delhi, for their rehabilitation work for the orphans, victims of communal, ethnic and terrorist violence.
  • Republic Day Parade-2015: Two volunteers of our College NSS unit, Anamika Kumari B.A.Mass.Com. (III) and Manisha Kumari B.A. (III) has been selected for the Republic Day Parade-2015, both proud volunteers of the unit joined the RD Parade Contingent in New Delhi on 1st January 2015.

  1. A general meeting held on 24th May 2015 for introducing new Programme Officer S.K. Anwar Ali.
  2. NSS College level group meeting at Worker’s College.
  3. Independence Day celebration at NSS adopted Village ‘Kapali’ in which the NSS volunteers organized many events among the village school students and also distributed prizes among them.
  4. Annual Induction meeting on 19th August 2015 with the objective to introduce the new students with NSS and encourage the spirit of selfless service in them.
  5. Literacy Week celebrated on 8th September 2015 with the aim to eradicate illiteracy completely.
  6. Tree Plantation programme on 3rd October 2015 at KCC B. ED College Mango, Jamshedpur many trees were planted by the Chief Guest Dr. R.K. Mohanty and Dr. Mohammed Zakaria.
  7. NSS Day celebration on 24th November 2015. Highlight of the Programme was NSS documentary movie.
  8. “Communal Harmony Week” was organized from 2nd to 9th December,2015, several competitions were performed throughout the week.
  9. NSS Special Camp was held in NSS adopted village ‘Kapali’ from 26th to 31stDecember 2015. Health & Hygiene awareness, sports, cultural programmes, Census, Savings encouragement (distribution of Piggy Banks to Students) etc. programmes were organized serially by the NSS volunteers.
  10. “Youth Day” celebration was organized on 12th January 2016.

A Report


With reference to your letter No 5/1/2016- NFCH Dated 1st September, 2016 regarding communal harmony week, we hereby submit a brief report of the same. As desired by the foundation we organized the communal harmony week from 15th December to 21th December 2016 in our college campus. A committee was constituted to ensure successful completion of the task

We regarded it as our national duty and participated in this great cause. Various programs and competition were held to mark the occasion, religiously supported by volunteers and college staff. All competitions were linked with the theme of communal harmony and national integration.

The program was inaugurated on 15.12.2016 by the Chief Guest MR MUKUL CHOUDHARY Administrator TFA & Sports, TATA STEEL and Guest of Honour ARVIND KUMAR PANDIT, NSS University Coordinator, Kolhan University, Chaibasa, Jharkhand. A slogan competition along with rally was organized on 15th December 2016, the theme of the slogan competition was Communal Harmony and National Integration. It was a grand rally and more than One Thousand Five hundred students and college staff participated in the rally. On 16th December 2016, a Painting, Collage and Sketching competition on the theme Communal Harmony, Cash Less India and Swachh Bharat respectively was held and 67 students participated in the competition. On 17th December, 2016  Essay writing competition was held on Theme Demonetization, 80 students participated in that competition. One 18th December, 2016 a Patriotic Dance ( Solo and Group) was organized in which 65 students participated. Patriotic Song and Ghazal (Instrumental and non-instrumental) was organized on 19th December, 2016 in which more than 45 students participated. On 20th December, 2016 a remarkable  speech competition on “ Vision for World Peace” was conducted by the volunteers of NSS in Hindi, English, Urdu & Bangla.

The closing ceremony on 21th December 2016 was historic one as it was attended by a large no of students’, college staff and the substantial no of invited dignitaries of the city. A guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Singh, Honourable Pro Vice-Chancellor, Kolhan University, Chaibasa, Jharkhand. Prizes were given to winner of different competition by the chief guest.

A special camp alongwith our 50 NSS volunteer was successfully organized for seven days (25th Dec. to 31st Dec. 2016) in our adopted village Kapali. So many activities like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Cash Less Transactions and their importance, Women empowerment, Sports and cultural programme were organized among the villagers during the week.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  1. National Integration Camp was held on April 2016 in KIT University, Bhubaneshwer, Orissa, in which our two NSS volunteers VIKASH KUMAR and ANMOL got the 1st prize for Slogan Writing Competition.
  2. A competition on Digital India was organized by the Kolhan University, Chaibasa at Jamshedpur Women’s College in the month of October, 2016 in which our NSS volunteers group consisting 12 students got the 1st Prize.
  3. An Adventure Camp at Manali was held in the month of October, 2016 in which our 3 NSS volunteers (AMAN, AJAY & AMIT) were selected.
  4. National Integration Camp was held on December, 2016 in BIT Mesra, Ranchi, in which our 4 NSS volunteers (KAJAL, SAKSHI, VIDHAN and AKASH) were nominated as Media Team and also won the 1st Prize in Slogan Writing Competition.
  5. With great pride we mention here that our 2 NSS volunteers RINKU KUMAR and PRAGYA SINGH were nominated for R.D. Parade, 2017 at New Delhi.
  6. With pleasure we share that the local administrator have taken the support of our NSS volunteers and NCC Cadets to celebrate the National Voters’ Day (NVD) on 25th January, 2016 in our College Campus.

Parallel to the aforementioned activities our teachers and students undertook the task of fund raising and collected an amount of Rs. 37,500/- (Rupees Thirty Seven thousand Five hundred only)

At last we solemnly resolve to the same further as we consider it a pious task of bringing the humanity together. By doing so we feel proud to be the link between the great chain of our composite culture.
