BIO NOTES

S. M. Yahiya Ibrahim is an Assistant Professor and Head, Dept. of English, Karim City College, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. A native of Gaya, Bihar and an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh he has a teaching experience of sixteen years. Though American Literature especially American Drama is his area of research Mr. Yahiya specializes in Literary Theory, Culture Studies, Film Studies, Translation Studies and ELT. He has attended many national and international seminars, conferences and workshops and convened three UGC sponsored National Seminars within two years. He is the editor of The Discourse, an ISSN numbered, refereed, bilingual, quarterly journal of Humanities and Social Sciences and plans to start a new journal of English literary criticism and creative writing from Januay 2014. He has been in the expert panel of National Translation Mission (NTM), a Govt of India body based at Central Institute of Indian Languages. He writes short stories in Hindi and Urdu a few of which are published. Apart from academics he is very active in academic administration and looking after the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Language Resource Centre and Centre for Distance Education of his college as co-ordinator. He has acted as co-ordinator twice during the NAAC assessment of his college. This apart, he has been looking after the literay and cultural wing of his college. An anchor by chance Mr. Yahiya has a strong interest in Indian culture and music. He has been working on four edited books on Gaze theory, Literature and Subconscious, Charles Dickens and a comparative study of Anita Desai and Kiran Desai respectively which he plans to publish in near future.
