Department of Economics
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Department of Economics is one of the oldest departments of Karim City College. Department of Economics offers only Undergraduate Courses. Teaching in the Department of Economics Was started from the session 1965-66, when the Ranchi University, Ranchi granted affiliation on 01.05.1965. Honours course in the department was started from the session of 1991-92. Before that that students were being offered only subsidiary and General Courses in Economics. The Main thrust area of the department are Agricultural Economics, International economics, Public economics, Economics of Growth & Development, demography etc.
Presently there are three Permanent faculty in the Department working against the Sanctioned post. Two of them dr. Ajaz Ahmad and Dr. S. IftekharNabi are in the rank of associate Professor and Dr. ( Major) Fakhreddin Ahmadi is in rank of Assistant professor (Senior Scale)
In Hons and Programme courses students are admitted on merit basis. Students from all section of the society, mainly from middle class group gets enrolled. A good number of students also come from SC/ST and Minority communities. Some of the students also get admitted from adjoining states like Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha etc. Future plan of the department is to start Post- Graduate Courses in Economics as well as Post Graduate Diploma in econometrics provided Kolhan University grants affiliation.
Department of Economics on regular basis convey Departmental meeting, organizes parent- Teacher meeting, students seminar.
