About the Department

The Department of Mathematics, Karim City College is a thriving community of dedicated teachers and devoted students sharing the enthusiasm for Mathematics. The Department was established in the year 1963 and since then it has shown continuous improvement in academics. In 1978 the department started Honours Program in Mathematics. It became P. G. Department of Mathematics in 2013 after the approval for PG teaching from Kolhan University, Chaibasa. The Department has established a Math-Lab & a Departmental Library for the students.

The faculty members regularly participate in Orientation programs, Refreshers programs, short-term courses and Workshops. Faculty members are also engaged in research oriented programs and regularly publish their research papers in International & National Journals.

Departmental Activities during session 2022-2023

During the session 2022-23 PG Department of Mathematics has organized a number of activities for teachers and students. Following is a brief report on those activities.

Internal assessment tests of UG Semester-VI were held from 20^th July 2022 & 22^nd July 2022.
On 25^th of January 2022 we organized an Induction meeting of M.Sc. Sem-1 batch, in online mode. We shared the Routine, Syllabus and Academic calendar.
Internal assessment tests of UG Semester-III & PG Semester-I were held from 20^th August 2022 to 22^nd August 2022.
Internal assessment tests of UG Semester-IV & PG Semester II were held on 19^th December 2022 to 21^st December 2022.
On 28^th of February 2023 we celebrated “National Science Day” with UG & PG students of Science Faculty.
Internal assessment tests of PG Semester-III were held from 02^nd May 2023 to 03^rd May 2023.
Internal assessment tests of UG Semester-III were held from 12^th May 2023 to 13^th May 2023.
Project Examination of PG Semester-IV was held on 23^rd June 2023.
On 29^th August 2023 students of UG Semester IV organized a farewell program for outgoing UG Semester VI students.

Internal assessment tests of PG Semester-IV were held from 10^th September 2021 to 12^th September 2021.
On 25^th of January 2022 we organized an Induction meeting of M.Sc. Sem-1 batch, in online mode. We shared the Routine, Syllabus and Academic calendar.

On 28^th of February 2021 we celebrated “National Science Day” with UG & PG students of Science Faculty.
On 15^th July 2021 we organized a web-lecture on the topic on”Topology-Application in computer programming. Mr. Suprabhat Mohapatra, Director, Fastek Technologies Pvt. Ltd. was speaker.

During the session 2019-20 PG Department of Mathematics has organized a number of activities for teachers and students. Following is a brief report on those activities.

On 31^th of August 2019 we organized an Induction meeting of fresher (UG & PG) in the department in which the students were introduced with their teachers. We also distributed the syllabus among the teachers. We also distributed the annual schedule of academic & co-curricular activities to be conducted by our department.
First Internal assessment tests of UG Semester-I were held from 17^th December to 19^th December 2019.
First Internal assessment tests of PG Semester-I were held from 24^th December to 26^th December 2019.
First Internal assessment tests of UG Semester-II were held from 24^th August to 26^th August 2019.
First Internal assessment tests of PG Semester-II were held from 24^th August to 26^th August 2019.
First Internal assessment tests of UG Semester-III were held from 4^th February to 6^th February 2020.
First Internal assessment tests of PG Semester-III were held from 12^st March to 15^th March 2020.
Organized a teacher parent meeting of UG sem 1 on 16^th November 2019 in which we discussed with parents about the performance of their ward in the class test and their progress in the class.
On 28^th of February 2020 we celebrated “National Science Day” with UG & PG students of Science Faculty.
We organized Web-Lecture on 20^th June 2020 on the topic “MATLAB”. The speaker was Dr. Raja Das, Assistant Professor, VIT, Vellore was speaker.
We organized Web-Lecture on 26^th June 2020 on the topic “The Story of a few integers”. The speaker was Dr. Ritwik Bandyopadhyay, Post Doctoral Research Associate, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Purdue University, USA.
