Doctoral Research:

Title of the Thesis      : “Synthesis, Characterization and Gas Transport Properties of Cardo Poly(arylene ether)s and Poly(ether imide)s”.

The principle goal was to synthesis polymeric membrane materials for gas separation application. Various fluorinated aromatic polymers like poly(arylene ether)s, poly(ether imide)s and poly(ether amide)s were synthesized for this purpose.

The outline of the work done:

  • Synthesis of different bisfluoro, bishydroxy and diamine monomer via Suzuki coupling reaction, alkylation, substitution and reduction
  • Purification of the monomers by column chromatography
  • Synthesis of fluorinated cardo poly(arylene ether)s via aromatic nucleophilic  substitution reaction using condensation polymerization technique
  • Synthesis of fluorinated poly(ether imide)s by thermal polymerization reaction
  • Synthesis of fluorinated poly(ether amide)s by polycondensation reaction
  • Study the gas transport property of different polymer membranes

Post-doctoral Research Experience:

  • CSIR-NML Jamshedpur (January 2023 to April 2024) [Project Associate]  Research Area: Corrosion resistance polymer coating on structural steel
  • University of Kalyani (2019-2022) [DS Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship by UGC] Research Area: Supramolecular gel for ion sensing
  • Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (2017-2019)  [SERB-DST-NPDF] Research Area: RAFT polymer, Crosslinked Polymer, Amino acid based crosslinked polymer gel for waste water treatment
  • Hanyang University (South Korea) (2016-2017) [Brain Korea 21 Plus Post-doctoral Fellowship] Research Area: Polymer Synthesis and Characterization, Polymer Membrane, Gas Transport Properties of Polymer Membrane
