About the Department
In the history of Karim City College, the Department of Hindi has existed from the time of its establishment. It has a glorious history of struggle and works for the development of the college, itself, and the welfare of society. The first Head of the Department was Professor Sangram Singh, who joined on the 1st of October 1963, working hard with his colleagues to build a solid foundation for the future. Prof. (Dr) Tribhuvan Ojha and Dr Safiullah Ansari were the Assistant Professors of Dept. of Hindi, Karim City College under him. After the dignified retirement of Prof. Sangram Singh in June 1995, Dr. Tribhuvan Ojha (who joined on the 1st of August, 1967) took over the office with Dr. Safiullah Ansari in the role of Assistant Professor. After the dignified retirement of Prof. Ojha in January 1998, Dr. Safiullah Ansari (working from 16th July 1987) took charge as Head of the Department, with Dr. H.K. Pandey and Dr. Subhas Gupta were the faculty members. Dr. H.K. Pandey joined as Assistant Professor on 5th September 1999 and retired in April 2016. Currently Dr. Safiullah Ansari is Head of the Department and Dr. S.C. Gupta and Dr. Sandhya Sinha are working as Assistant Professor.
Year 2010 was a Golden Year when keeping in mind the smooth and exemplary working and vision of the Department, Kolhan University offered the course of Honors in Hindi to Karim City College. The College accepted this responsibility, and from the year 2010, Hindi Honors course has been offered along with all previous courses successfully. The Dept. has instituted general courses for Graduation level students. In the year 2017, CBCS pattern of syllabus was introduced and the Department is involved in conducting this new syllabus with technological aids of teaching. Currently, 1st and 2nd semesters of CBCS are ongoing in which courses like Hindi Hons, MIL, SEC, DSC, GE are being offered for the Honours and programme course students. (Syllabus enclosed)
Along with these, the second year of the earlier pattern is also ongoing in which Hindi Hons, Hindi subsidiary, and Hindi MIL are compulsory for all three streams, as well as for non-Hindi students in science, arts and commerce. Hindi is also an optional paper for all students.
Alongside all the aforementioned courses, the Department has occasionally organized extra and co-curricular activities to nurture literary interest, literary skills, and reading-writing habits of standard and utility-based literatures. Essay and debate competitions, kavi-goshthi, katha-vachan, and guest lectures are the main activities in this regard. It is a matter of pride for the College that many alumni are contributing literary works on state, national and even international platforms.
Every year the Department produces a good number of Hindi Honors graduates who keep the Karim City College name flying high.
Vision and Mission

- To make the students able to perform their qualities by Organizing language – Skill-Development Programs for the students of Hindi Language and literature.
- For the Students interested in literary wiring and composition, organizing workshops for Understanding, development and sharpening of literary writing skills.
- To provide my personal support and empathy to my students, specially to the NEEDY students.
- Since this is the era of Globalization, I would like to develop a Global outlook among my students and try to make them able to meet every day upcoming challenges of personal and professional fields.
- To develop my students as worthy world citizen who can look after the problems of common people at global level and can make remarkable footprints by their creativity and courage.
- To develop an interdisciplinary attitude among the students who can establish a good relationship with the people and program of other fields and subjects.
- To look after the college and Job linkage by organizing placement programs in the college and department.
- Since this is the era of technology, (Especially due to CORONA pandemic), I would like to make able my students technically efficient, creative and sound to nicely perform their duties and qualities on each and every front of life.
- To develop a peer-feeling and alumanai-feeling along with love and affection for the Institution ‘Karim City College’.

History of Department of Hindi
The Department of Hindi, existed right from the establishment of Karim City College, therefore it has a glorious history of struggle and remarkable works for the development of the college, itself and the welfare of society. Pandey and Dr. Subhas Gupta were the faculty members. Dr. H.K. Pandey retired in the month of April, 2016. After the dignified retirement of Dr. Safiullah Ansari in the month of Nov’ 2021, Dr. S.C. Gupta took charge of the Head of the Department in the month of Dec’ 2021. Dr. Sandhya Sinha was working as Assistant Professor from 06.08.2015 on ad-hoc basis. Dr. Sandhya Sinha has joined on 04.03 2022 as Assistant Professor. Dr. Firoj Alam is working as Assistant Professors on ad-hoc basis. Currently in Dept. of Hindi, Dr. S.C. Gupta is Head of the Dept. and Dr. Sandhya Sinha and Dr. Firoj Alam are Assistant Professors.

In graduation there is Hindi Major, Minor, Multiple Disciplinary Course (MDC) and Abilities Enhancement Course (AEC) of Hindi students in all the streams viz. Arts, Science, commerce and Vocational Courses. Along with these, the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th semesters old course of CBCS is running in which Hindi Hons, MIL, SEC, DSC etc course are going on for the hons and programme course students. At Graduation level, Hindi courses are being taught as a subsidiary subject, MIL for all three streams and Non Hindi for non-Hindi students in science, arts and commerce. GE Hindi is also optional paper for all the students of graduation.
