Orientation Program for BCA and B.Sc. IT Freshers Karim City College

Karim City College Holds Orientation Program for BCA and B.Sc. IT Freshers Karim City College organized an Orientation-cum-Induction Program for the newly admitted students of the 2026–29 batch of the Department of Computer Applications and Department of Information Technology on 10th August 2026 in college auditorium. The program was aimed at welcoming the new students and their parents and familiarizing them with the academic structure, examination system, library and MIS facilities, co-curricular activities, student support services and career opportunities available at the college. The program began with Tilawat-e-Quran by Janab Hafiz Waliullah. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Anwar Shahab, Professor-in-Charge of the Department of BCA and IT. He welcomed the students and parents and encouraged the new entrants to make the best use of the opportunities available at the college. The program was conducted by Dr. Mohammad Asghar Ali, Ms. Ratna Panday explained the syllabus, semester system, course structure and class routine. The students were then introduced to the college’s library facilities and Management Information System (MIS) by Dr. Md. Moiz Ashraf, Head, PG Department of Mathematics and Library In-charge. He explained how students could make effective use of the library and digital academic facilities for their studies. Addressing the students on matters of student welfare and safety, Dr. Kauser Tasneem, Head, Department of History and Coordinator of the Women’s Cell, spoke about the role of the Women’s Cell and the support available to students. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, respectful and inclusive campus environment. The importance of cultural and creative activities was highlighted by Dr. S.M. Yahiya Ibrahim, Head, PG Department of English, Coordinator IQAC, Convener of SPArC and Admission In-charge. He introduced students to the college’s cultural forum and encouraged them to participate in various activities to develop their talents and confidence beyond the classroom.
Dr. Shahbaz Ansari (NSS Officer), briefed the students about NSS and encouraged them to participate in community service and social initiatives. Providing students with a glimpse into their future career opportunities, Dr. Vijay Laxmi, Coordinator of the Placement Cell, spoke about placement-related activities, career development and the importance of developing professional skills alongside academic knowledge. Major Dr. Fakrudin Ahmad National Cadet Corps (NCC), introduced students to NCC and encouraged them to participate in activities that promote discipline, leadership, responsibility and national service. The examination and evaluation system was explained by Dr. B.N. Tripathy, Controller of Examinations. He familiarized the students with examination rules, assessment procedures, passing criteria and the importance of maintaining academic discipline throughout the program. The students were also addressed by Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal, Karim City College, who welcomed the new batch and encouraged them to pursue academic excellence while actively participating in the various activities of the institution. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Noorus Sabah, Faculty, Department of Computer Applications. She expressed gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, staff, students and parents for their presence and contribution to the successful conduct of the program. The Orientation-cum-Induction Program provided the new students with a comprehensive introduction to the academic, administrative, cultural, sporting, social and career-oriented facilities of Karim City College. The program also helped students and parents gain a better understanding of the expectations and opportunities associated with the BCA and B.Sc. IT programs. The event was attended by Prof. Md. Asghar Ali, Ms. Zakia Shabnam, Mr. Shibram Bera, Ms. Preeti Singh, Mr. Samiullah, Mr. Sheikh Munnerul Islam and other teaching and nonteaching staff of Karim City College.
