Department of Chemistry is one of the premier constituent department in the Faculty of Science in Karim City College, Jamshedpur, affiliated to Kolhan University, Chaibasa. The Department is upgraded with modern scientific equipment funded by University Grant Commission and RUSA. The Department has significant contribution in the field of chemical science.

Departmental laboratory is fully equipped for undergraduate and post graduate level students. A departmental library is also working in the department with more than 300 books and Journals of National and International repute.

Departmental Activities During the session 2016-17

The department has organized a number of activities for teachers and students. Following is a brief report on those activities.

• On 16th of August 2016 we organized Induction meeting of freshers in the department in which the students were introduced with their teachers. We also distributed the syllabus among the students. We also distributed the annual schedule of academic & co-curricular activities to be conducted by the department.
• On Thursday the 26th of September 2016 we organized a student seminar on the topic PERIODIC TABLE in which students of B. Sc. participated with their ideas on the topic.
• On 29th of November 2016 we organized a student seminar on the topic Basic Chemistry, Polymer, Hybridisation and p-Block element  in which students of B. Sc. Part I (Hons) participated with their ideas on the topic.
• On 19th of December 2016 we organized a class test of B. Sc. Part I students in which we covered the portion of syllabus that was covered by faculties of the department.   On 10th of January 2017 we organized a class test of B. Sc. Part II & III students in which we covered the portion of syllabus that was covered by faculties of the department.
• Organized a teacher parent meeting on 04th February 2017 in which we discussed with parents about the performance of their ward in the class test and their progress in the class.
• On 15th of February 2017 we organized an Educational tour to Turamdih Mines of UCIL, of B. Sc. Part II & III students.
• On 27th of February 2017 we visit to NML (CSIR) an Educational tour on National Science Day of B. Sc. Part I students.
• Celebration of Science day in the Department on 28th Feb 2017 in which a lecture was given by Dr. Khurshid Anwar Khan on Dr. C.V. Raman.
• On 16th of March 2017 we organized a class test of B. Sc. Part III final years students.
• On 8th of April 2017 Farewell to B.Sc. Part   III Students.

• On Thursday the 24th of September 2015 we organized a student seminar on the topic  Coordination chemistry and polymer  in which students of B. Sc. participated with their ideas on the topic.
• On 15th of December 2015 we organized a class test of B. Sc. Part I students in which we covered the portion of syllabus that was covered by faculties of the department.
• Organized a teacher parent meeting on 28th January 2016 in which we discussed with parents about the performance of their ward in the class test and their progress in the class.
• On 28th of February 2016 we celebrated  National Science Day  with UG & PG students of Science Faculty.
• On 22nd and 23rd of March, 2016 conducted sent-up test for students of B. Sc. Part I students.
• On 14th of April 2016 we published the result of sent-up test.
• On 5th of May 2016 we organized Departmental Seminar on various Topics for B.Sc. Part I & II (Hons) students in which 15 students presented their papers.
• On 16th of May 2016 Departmental seminar for B.Sc. Part I & II students on various topics.

• On 03rd & 04th of April, 2015 we conducted sent-up test for students of B. Sc. Part I students.
• On 18th of April 2016 we published the result of sent-up test.
