Department of Mathematics

Highlights

The Department was established in the year 1963. Prof. Bashiruddin and Prof. Ziuddin Khan Warsi were founder teachers of the department. In 1978 the department started honours program in Mathematics. It became P. G. Department of Mathematics in 2013 after the approval from Kolhan University, Chaibasa. The Department has established a Math-Lab with 10 Computers and internet connectivity. Department has its own Departmental Library. The Department is subscribed to Three International Journals namely (i) Indian Journal of Pure & Applied Mathematics, (ii) IOSR Journal of Mathematics (iii) Proceedings Mathematical Science. These journals are available in the college library. The Department has organised Two-Day National Seminar in 2014 on the topic Application of Integral Transform on Special Functions in which Prof. (Dr.) Sharfuddin Ahmad from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi was Chief Guest and Prof A. Roy from IIT Kharagpur was Guest of Honour. The faculty members regularly participate in different Orientation, Refreshers programs and Workshops. Faculty members are also engaged in research oriented programs. More than 15 papers of have been published in International/National Journals.

Departmental activities during session 2015-2016

During the session 2015-16 our department has organized a number of activities for teachers and students. Following is a brief report on those activities.

On 6th of August 2015 we organized an Induction meeting of fresher in the department in which the students were introduced with their teachers. We also distributed the syllabus among the teachers. We also distributed the annual schedule of academic & co-curricular activities to be conducted by our department.
On Thursday the 24th of September 2015 we organized a student seminar on the topic Integral Calculus & its applications in which students of B. Sc. participated with their ideas on the topic.
On 15th of December 2015 we organized a class test of B. Sc. Part I students in which we covered the portion of syllabus that was covered by faculties of the department. Organized a teacher parent meeting.
On 28th January 2016 in which we discussed with parents about the performance of their ward in the class test and their progress in the class. On 28th of February 2016 we celebrated National Science Day with UG & PG students of Science Faculty.
On 22nd and 23rd of March, 2016 conducted sent-up test for students of B. Sc. Part I students.
On 14th of April 2016 we published the result of sent-up test. On 29th April 2016 we organized Departmental Seminar on the Topic Application of Numerical Analysis for PG students in which 21 students presented their papers.

Activities & Achievements

Activities of Faculty Members

Dr. P. C. Banerjee & Prof. Md Moiz Ashraf are the member of syllabus committee of Kolhan University, Chaibasa. We have conducted a meeting of the committee in our campus along with the other members of the committee in the Month of September 2015.
Dr. P. C. Banerjee, Prof. Md. Moiz Ashraf & Dr. Shahid ahmad Hashmi attended the week long program Short Term Course on Computer Application from 2nd Feb. 2016 to 8th Feb. 2016 organized at Karim City College, Jamshedpur by CALEM, UGC- HRDC, Aligarh.
Prof. Md. Moiz Ashraf & Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmi attended the week long program Workshop on Data-Analysis, SPSS & MINITAB from 16th May 2016 to 22nd May 2016, organized at Karim City College, Jamshedpur by CALEM, UGC- HRDC, Aligarh.
Organized a farewell party for students of P. G. Part II on 10th May 2016 in which students of P.G. part I presented mementos to their seniors.
